Understanding insurance requirements for riders and providers on our platform.

Important Disclaimer

BookHorseRiding is not an insurance provider and does not provide insurance cover for riders or providers. Users are responsible for obtaining any insurance cover they consider appropriate for their activities. Provider Insurance Requirements

All providers operating on the BookHorseRiding platform are required to hold and maintain appropriate insurance cover for the activities they offer. Insurance requirements vary by country, activity type and operator status, but at a minimum providers are expected to hold valid public liability insurance appropriate for equestrian activities.

Providers may be required to submit the following documentation as part of the verification process:

Current insurance certificate confirming policy type and coverage.

Policy number and insurance provider details.

Policy expiry date.

Evidence of minimum coverage amounts appropriate for equestrian activities.

Any specialist equestrian, adventure activity or outdoor pursuits endorsements.

Insurance Verification Process

Insurance documentation submitted by providers is reviewed as part of the BookHorseRiding provider verification process. BookHorseRiding reserves the right to:

Approve provider listings where insurance documentation is satisfactory.

Reject applications where insurance requirements are not met.

Suspend provider listings where insurance has lapsed or expired.

Remove providers where insurance requirements cannot be satisfied.

Request updated insurance documentation at any time.

Providers are responsible for ensuring their insurance remains current and for notifying BookHorseRiding of any changes to their insurance cover.

Recommended Rider Insurance

Although BookHorseRiding does not require riders to hold insurance as a condition of booking, we strongly recommend that all riders obtain appropriate cover before participating in equestrian activities, particularly:

Personal accident insurance covering equestrian activities.

Travel insurance with equestrian activity cover for international bookings.

Medical expenses cover, particularly for activities abroad.

Emergency repatriation cover for international riding holidays.

Travel Insurance Guidance

Riders booking international equestrian experiences should pay particular attention to the following when selecting travel insurance:

Ensure equestrian activities are explicitly covered — many standard travel policies exclude horse riding.

Check whether competitive activities (competitions, clinics, events) require additional specialist cover.

Confirm the policy covers medical treatment and emergency repatriation in the country of the experience.

Review cancellation and curtailment cover in case the experience cannot proceed.

Consider whether the policy covers personal liability in case of an incident involving a third party.

Personal Accident Insurance

Personal accident insurance provides financial compensation in the event of injury, permanent disability or death resulting from an accident during equestrian activities. Riders are strongly advised to consider personal accident cover, particularly for:

Trail rides, trekking and multi-day riding holidays.

Advanced riding experiences and competitive activities.

Any activity involving jumping, cross-country or more challenging disciplines.

Public Liability Insurance

Public liability insurance covers legal liability for injury or damage caused to third parties. All BookHorseRiding providers are required to hold public liability insurance. However, this insurance protects the provider and does not provide cover for the rider in the event of injury.

Riders should not assume that a provider's public liability insurance will cover their own injuries or losses arising from participation in an experience.

International Riding Holidays

Riders booking multi-day or residential riding holidays abroad should take particular care when arranging insurance. Considerations include:

The level of healthcare available in the destination country.

The distance from hospitals and emergency facilities at riding locations.

Whether the host country has a reciprocal healthcare agreement with your home country.

The specific equestrian activities included and whether they fall within standard travel insurance definitions.

Luggage, equipment and riding kit cover.

Claims Procedures

In the event of an incident requiring an insurance claim, riders and providers should:

Seek immediate medical attention where required.

Document the incident in writing as soon as possible.

Retain all medical receipts, reports and associated documentation.

Notify the relevant insurance provider promptly in accordance with policy terms.

Report any incident involving a BookHorseRiding booking via the Contact Us page.

BookHorseRiding is not responsible for the handling or outcome of any insurance claim. Riders and providers should deal directly with their insurance providers regarding all claims matters.
